Over the years, the element of chance and I have become very close friends. In my creative process, I always leave a window wide open for the arrival of the unexpected. When chance comes my way, it brings the gift of happy accidents into my work. The moment when a piece takes a turn into unknown is when the creative process becomes so compelling for me. I love to explore new avenues, adding what I have unearthed to my overall
creative map. Art is the primary motivational force in my life. My visual language is not one of lofty elegance, but a raw, visceral dialect of immediacy and honesty. The Japanese call it heta-uma, which roughly translates to "bad-good". That methodology really works for me. When I'm not creating, I spend my time seeking out new artistic roads to follow and talk about my insights each week as one of the hosts of 11 O'Clock Comics. |
